As of September 9, 2025, the day Alex Nuttall announced the abusive 'State of Emergency', his home, located at XXX XXXXXXXX XXXXX was assigned a uniformed security officer.
Why, if his actions are so supported, this would be needed, and if taxpayers are paying for it are unknown.

Let's not forget how the Conservative government, under Doug Ford, has repeatedly abused the intent of the notwithstanding clause, has used unlawful abuses of process in a vain attempt to destroy unions of public workers, and their leader, Doug Ford, has suggested distributing the address of a judge who did not rule as he had wanted in a case involving the rights of those trapped in the homeless community, with his intent being to allow his supporters to dox and threaten a judge of the Superior Court and veteran of the armed forces for showing compassion and honouring the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. That is the difference between pseudo-court that can be manipulated by corrupt politicians, verses the learned, aware, compassionate jurisprudence of highly experienced law school graduates who can not be so easily swayed by either intimidation or selfish political motivation.

Of course, we have no doubt it is "purely coincidence" those members the Ontario PC caucus suddenly started monitoring our publications almost three months ago, when this matter was brought before the courts. Their interest level has since been so high that they account for about a quarter of the total traffic to our website. We cannot accurately assess their traffic to our Facebook, but it seems likely they are keeping up with current affairs with matching vigour. More on that soon through a new exposé article.

Nuttall, a "man" of approximately 6'6" tall and 320 lbs in weight, who has been identified by various people as a "bully" who is said to be abusive to councillors, city staff, and even clergy, told a court of law that due to his own Draconian policies of social murder, levied by him against those trapped in the homeless community, he was afraid of his constituents and what they might do if they ever knew where he lived.

What kind of a community do we live in where the mayor not only ignores the wants and needs of the constituents who pay him far more than he is worth, but he actually hides from them like a child in trouble?

Alex Nuttall also screamed at the top of his lungs, four times, in a court of law, that he thought our producer, a journalist and philanthropist, who has worked at the international level of media and has donated more than $700,000.00 in services to greater than 180 local charities, not-for-profits, and benevolent community groups, was "mentally ill" for defending the homeless in our community, and for refusing to support Alex Nuttall's twisted need to hurt the most vulnerable members of our society.

We believe that Alex Nuttall's self-admission of sciophobia (fear of his own shadow) is embarrassing for all, and as was revealed in court while under oath, a simple phone call or email could have saved him the shame of having to admit to his own cowardice while also relieving the taxpayers of Barrie from being forced to pay tens of thousands of dollars in legal fees. Of course, as it was not his money, and our imperious leader chose to do nothing for more than 425 days, or 14 months, and then spend three days in court, at incredible expense to the taxpayers he says he serves but fears, just so he can show us all who is in charge — and a big boy now — at least when he is not hiding in his basement from the taxpayers he is sworn to serve, but fears. We don't know the true source of Alex Nuttall's paranoia, and frankly we don't care. We still know where he lives and we have never had the slightest desire to go anywhere near his home. So, why is the "honourable" mayor of Barrie so afraid of those who he is sworn to server, and who pay his wages?

As a veteran, and a journalist who ran into warzones carrying only a camera, I cannot express sufficiently my level of disappointment in the apparent cowardice and lack of accountability shown by Mayor Alex Nuttall.
We can and should do better.

The honourable have no reason or desire to hide who they are or where they can be held accountable for their actions. I live and work at the Big Blue Box Studios at 310 Innisfil St. Barrie, Ontario, and I am happy to meet those who we serve, even though we are not legally or ethically obligated to do so.

In 2021, we were targeted for drive-by shootings by a disturbed individual who thought he had the right to censor our right to freedom of expression by driving past our studio in the middle of the night, on multiple dates, and shooting at our building and vehicles with a rifle. We did report the incident to the Barrie Police Service, who did very little, and I resolved the matter by publicly inviting the wannabe bully to come speak with me and telling him he could bring his rifle if he felt the need for his security blanket. Of course, as is true of Nuttall supporters, he never showed up, as apparently, he chose instead to hide in his basement also, along with our mayor, metaphorically speaking of course.

The political bias shown in the court was reminiscent of that displayed by U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon who dismissed the federal documents case against Donald Trump, who had appointed her to the bench.

Alex Nuttall's Policies of Social Murder

On June 21, 2023, Nuttall's one-man war on our poorest sector was scuttled after a rookie Councillor tabled a motion, without due advanced warning, and in contradiction to established protocols, that would have made it illegal for any organization or individual to provide any means of support to any member of the homeless and unsheltered community without consent of City Hall. Essentially, this life-threatening action was slipped into Council in such a way that the public would not likely become aware of it before it became law.

The consequences for showing compassion to a fellow human being in need without a permit would grant a personal power trip for By-Law enforcement, who would issue the concerned person with a fine for doing nothing more than showing compassion.

Our reporting of this story goes back two years; however, neither Mayor Alex Nuttall, nor the City of Barrie, have contested any allegation made in this article, nor in any of the social media posts to which we have linked.

A True Vote of Non-Confidence

On October 24, 2022, Alexander (Alex) Nuttall was voted into office as the 47th Mayor of the City of Barrie. His troubled path to what has become a self-anointed period of dictatorship, is the result of a wafer-thin margin of only 777 votes, carved out of an active electorate of 31,604. Alex Nuttall's 'success' happened only because he was challenged by two more progressive candidates, who split the vote to his benefit. Barrie is a hard-core Conservative district, with the true-blue repeatedly taking and reclaiming power both provincially and federally. So, Alex Nuttall, as the only viable Conservative candidate, and a former federal Member of Parliament for the Tories, should have won the election by a landslide.

Even Conservative voters were wary of Alex Nuttall, especially after they learned of the multiple allegations of election fraud made against him.

Alex Nuttall's 'victory' represented a meagre 30.45% of the total votes cast. The full electorate totalled 103,795 eligible voters, so when Alex Nuttall was voted into office as Mayor of Barrie, based on only 13,401 votes, his electoral support represented only 12.91% of the entire eligible voting base of the City of Barrie. That anorexic display of support represents only a miniscule level of confidence in his ability as mayor, which has, for many taxpayers, been proven to be fully justified.

This embarrassing level of voter support likely also accounts for Alex Nuttall's constant chest beating, his excessive use of 'look what I did' propaganda in social media, and for far too many unwarranted attacks against the homeless and unsheltered. As is true of all bullies, Alex Nuttall acts big, but his actions, such as attacking the weakest members of our society who are easy prey, show he is not what he pretends to be. Even when shaking down the defenceless, Alex Nuttall hides behind an army of armed men and women, who he sends out to do his dirty work, while his less timid minions keep those he is attacking at a safe distance.

Alex Nuttall was voted in as mayor after securing only 13,401 votes, or 12.91% of the full electorate.

Our council consists of eleven elected representatives: however, a source inside Barrie City Council reports that Alex Nuttall dictates policy.

Only a weak man needs to act as a dictator, as it takes strength and repect for fairness to negotiate policy that truly serves all or most taxpayers.

From almost day one, the current council for the City of Barrie has been wrought with issues and protests by concerned citizens.

Alex Nuttall has covered for his own incompetence by targetting the homeless community to create a bogeyman to blame.

Police are being ordered frequently to remove encampments, even though their actions violate the Charter and an order of the Superior Court.

Only the weakest kind of person feels a need to control everything. Strong people are willing to be fair with others, to listen, to learn, and to negotiate a compromise. The need for dictatorship comes from an acute lack of self-confidence, and a fear of being found out by others.

An abusive mayor becomes a detracting liability to any city when their true goal is to attack a specific sector of the city that they have been entrusted to govern, pursuant to the law and human rights.

We are all judged by the company we keep. Alex Nuttall chose to associate with and promote the scary fringe side of Conservative politics by supporting the leadership campaign of Maxime Bernier: a man who is so reviled now by even the hard right that he must associate with the lowest of the low, like MAGA supporter Alex Jones, who was successfully sued for $965 million after repeatedly lying about children who had been mass murdered at Sandy Hook.

Election Fraud - We Are All Judged by the Company We Keep

Alex Nuttall's self-evident insecurity likely stems from his 'less than honourable' professional history as a politician, which has been marred by two separate and unassociated accusations of election fraud. One charge involving the Provincial Progressive Conservatives in 2010, and another allegation came seven years later when Alex Nuttall served as a lacklustre one-term federal Member of Parliament.

In 2010, Alex Nuttall was confronted by his own campaign team and was asked to drop out as a candidate for the provincial Conservatives after evidence showed he had committed serious membership fraud. He refused, and his campaign manager resigned, citing a significant conflict of ethics. Then, in 2017, while supporting, and acting as national membership chair, for alt-right political pariah Maxime Bernier, Alex Nuttall was once again accused of membership fraud, but this time by the Federal Conservative Party.

Seldom will intelligent people look at two such similar sets of allegations and not see the truth.

A short while after Maxime Bernier lost his bid for Conservative leader in 2017, he 'chose' to move on to create the ill-fated People's Party of Canada (PPC). Alex Nuttall then suddenly claimed that he did not want to continue in federal politics, and that he had 'chosen' not to return for a second term. That claim is utterly antithetical to the need to conquer and control that has been consistently demonstrated by this career Conservative politician, who clearly loves the limelight of power. What seems more likely is the multiple credible claims that Alex Nuttall was advised by his own party that they would not support his candidacy for a second term as a Conservative Member of Parliament. After so much negative press, no party would want to deal with a member who had been accused of stacking the deck, not just once but twice, by two parties, in two elections. Alex Nuttall also metaphorically shanked his 'friend', by refusing to run for Maxime Bernier's new PPC party, which would seem like an obvious tactic of trying to retain his position in the Conservative Party, which failed, nonetheless.

Maxime Bernier, who Alex Nuttall supported, is now a despised figure in Conservative politics, who has sunk to the level of associating with fellow fascist pariahs like Alex Jones; a 'man' who has been court ordered to pay $965 million in damages for libel to the parents of the children who were mass murdered at Sandy Hook.

That order extended to money, food and water, clothing, blankets and tents, Tim's cards, and every other form of assistance that could possibly be used to ensure the survival of any homeless human being.

We also learned that the lead complainant about the encampment was motivated by a desire to sell her home, which she had purchased for about a million dollars when the encampment was located in Berczy Park, but she was flipping the property for three times that amount immediately after the encampment had been removed fully at the expense of taxpayers.

Contractors seized and disposed of all the possessions of the residents.

More often than not, the seizure of property was done without consent.

The woman was well enough known to the men that one waved to her.

The woman said 'Here is a little something to show my appreciation.

The woman noted how much better it was with the encampment gone.

The younger contractor took the envelope without hesitation.

The older man hesitated, and told the woman he would see her later.

It was quite obvious he did not want to be recorded taking a bribe.

He then nodded toward our videographer, warning the younger man.

They had been seen by advocates going into the woman's home at lunch.

The younger man returned the envelope, and noted he would see her later.

The older man nodded to the camera and told the woman he would see her later.

We also recorded City of Barrie contractors receiving bribes from at least one local resident, who said she wanted to reward them for illegally removing the encampment. The little white envelopes were handed out just a few feet from officers of the Barrie Police Service and the City of Barrie By-Law Enforcement wannabes, but they all chose to look the other way. Perhaps, they were waiting for their little package of incentive to be discretely slipped into their pocket.

Police Officers are sworn to uphold the law, but did Mayor Alex Nuttall order them to violate their oath for his financial benefit, or to appease his children?

The actions by the City of Barrie and the Barrie Police Service violated Section 7 of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, which guarantees for all the "right to life, liberty, and security of the person". These law enforcement professionals and sworn upholders of the law also brazenly defied the January 27, 2023, ruling of Justice Michael J Valente, Superior Court of Justice, Court File No.: CV-22-717, which guaranteed the rights of the homeless in encampments, and which far exceeds the authority of any mayor or police officer.

Under the orders of Alex Nuttall, officers of the Barrie Police Service arrested a female trauma care professional who was trying to help those being assaulted, and a journalist reporting on their unlawful actions.

The day after we recorded the bribery, and several other unlawful offences, officers of the Barrie Police Service arrested our Producer, an internationally experienced journalist, for 'trespassing in a public park', because he wanted to continue reporting the truth about the ongoing abuse of the Charter rights of the encampment residents, and the violations of the Superior Court order that protected them. That charge is pending trial, and Alex Nuttall has been advised he will be summonsed to explain his motivation to clear that specific park, and that park only, that was located around the corner from his home. He will also be called upon to explain several other interesting sidebar stories, like the nature of his relationship with the woman who wanted the encampment removed so she could profit greatly from the sale of her home.

So far, despite several attempts to arrange for legal service, Alex Nuttall, an 'honourable' public servant, has refused to respond, and has chosen instead to hide in his office in City Hall, behind security guards and the privileges of his elected position, which comes as no surprise, as bullies are essentially always cowards.

Mayor Alex Nuttall and his blindly obedient Councillors have shown repeatedly that they simply don't care about the human beings who have been forced, often by circumstances far beyond their control, to live on the streets and in encampments.

This was shown clearly on November 22, 2024, when officers of the Barrie Police Service showed up in the early morning hours at an encampment on Bradford St. behind the wealthy Water View and Grand Harbour condominiums, with orders to evict the residents who had established a small community for shared resources and security several months earlier. What made this encampment unusual, is that it was built on private land, with the consent of the property owner. The land, located between 31 and 51 Bradford Street, was useless scrubland that is intended to eventually be used for commercial or residential development. However, for about a decade it had sat vacant. The encampment was bothering nobody, with the possible exception of a 'Not In My Backyard' person of wealth living in one of the towers, who is likely a supporter of Mayor Alex Nuttall's political aspirations.

Our team was there, so our reporting is firsthand.

According to multiple sources, Mayor Alex Nuttall, via agencies in City Hall, pressured the property owner to agree to evict the encampment, likely under threat of fines or or property assessments, etc., although that is not confirmed. Such tactics of coercion are common when dealing with people of a fascist mindset, like those in Nazi Germany during the 1930s, Serbian President Slobodan Milošević in Bosnia, and Donald Trump's MAGA movement.

Unlike at Berczy Park, where police and City/County paid advocates brazenly lied to residents to remove them, by offering shelter that did not exist, and storage that was only available on a very short basis, this eviction was on private land, and as the land owner had yielded to what appears to be intimidation, the ruling of Superior Court Justice Michael J. Valente did not apply.

Bloody Nosed Bully Abuses Authority Of City To Extract Revenge

Abuses of authority only work on people who are afraid of the system, and who do not know how to collect or present evidence, which is not true of somebody who is both a journalist and former private investigator.

Abusing Authority of City Hall To Attack His Critics and Taxpaying Residents

That was the last job we ever did for that client, and he was only the first of many to abandon us, as fear spread of the wrath of our elected Mayor, who is also reported to hold total control, like a dictator, over City Council.

A Solid Reputation for Altruism in Our Community

Alex Nuttall chose to ignore our contributions to the community, and our donated services to the city and county, because we disagreed with him, which was much more important than helping hundreds of charities.

Abusing City of Barrie Resources for Intimidation

During the winter of 2024/25, the City of Barrie experienced more than its fair share of ice, and our studio was no exception. As was the case in many places, ice built up to a dangerous depth, and we had to melt it off and break it up to lessen the strain on the roof and to reduce the risk of it falling on somebody. In our case, the result was a chunk taking off a piece of our eavestrough.

A response within a few days would never have raised our suspicion, but within hours, some wannabe cop in the Barrie By-Law office saw the damage, saw an opportunity to shine in the eyes of Alex Nuttall, and quickly compiled a report that they sent to us by registered mail, threatening to charge us $100,000.00 as an individual, or $200,000.00 if we were incorporated, if we did not fix the issue.

The original citation, which in time became very fluid, was purported to have been based on a complaint by a neighbour. However, we know our neighbours, and we asked around. Then, when we contested that false claim, Kim Banting, the head of By-Law and Property Standards enforcement, changed the story, choosing instead to profess that one of her staff had approached our house after a complaint about our dogs, and had reported the damage to Property Standards, where for some unknown reason, our eavestrough became an absolute priority.

Again, we knew that story was false, as our neighbours love our dogs so much, that some come to visit them, and others stop us when on walks to do likewise.

This is the act of nature that hit both sides of our studios.

It resulted in one of the eavestroughs being pulled down.

By-Law Enforcement manufactured a complaint about our dogs.

Why did a supervisor so obviously back-peddle about the fake dog complaint?

What was the reason for 96 visits in one day to the page about our dogs?

City Hall thinks they can bully us into not exposing Mayor Alex Nuttall.

This is the eavestrough to a neighbour behind our studio, yet he has received no citation.

What kind of a weak ass politician needs to abuse the authority of the office he won by a minority vote to cover for his own mistakes, rather than taking responsibility for his actions? Mayor Alex Nuttall appears quite content with taking everybody in City Hall down with him.

The timing of the complaint / threat would have required that the report was written and filed on the day the ice took out the eavestrough, which is extremely efficient work for a City of Barrie bureaucrat.

Who Let The Dog Out?

Then later, that dog investigator, reported to be Raymond White, appeared to completely forget about the supposed dog complaint, based again mostly on our questioning of the source. Then we learned that there had been an absurd number of hits on our page for the Big Blue Box Studios Facebook page, which was unprecedented as that page is a fluff account, and only has a few dozen likes or followers. What it does have, however, is photos and written content about our dogs. Then, a few weeks later, our Producer spoke with Bryan Keene, a Supervisor in Enforcement Services, seeking details on the number of dogs that could live and/or visit our Big Blue Box Studios, and he said it was not his job to tell people how many dogs they could have, nor to take away dogs that exceed the number permitted by the bylaw. That phone conversation, which was recorded, rather succinctly closes the box regarding the true motivation behind the actions taken against us by the By-Law and Property Standards Enforcement Division of the City of Barrie, which then leaves only the question of why did they do it?

The story about the dog complaint has never been pursued by City Hall, and the reason is it was a lie, created by the minions of Mayor Alex Nuttall to intimidate us not to file the fully supported ethics complaint against him.

The Dog Grooming Mechanic

In a further abuse of authority within the initial report, written by Carina Paoletti, a Property Standards Officer currently under full-time contract with the City of Barrie, the young wannabe cop noted that as part of her 'professional assessment', our van was 'non-functional' and should be towed away, presumably as scrap. She based that threat solely on us having committed the 'crime' of using a battery charger, which we had protected under a tarp over the engine.

We did some research and learned that when Carina Paoletti is not writing threatening reports to appease Mayor Alex Nuttall, she works as a dog groomer. From what we could find, there is no reference in her resume to having any kind of qualifications or even training in auto mechanics. Based solely on the visual appearance of a half-completed minor repair, this twenty-something year old woman felt sufficiently empowered as a member of Mayor Alex Nuttall's intimidation unit that she could demand that we prove to her satisfaction that the vehicle is road worthy.

A quick check of the insurance status would have shown that the van is fully insured for liability, as is consistent with a vehicle that is sidelined for a short period due to a minor mechanical issue. The entire dog and pony show was manufactured by the Barrie By-Law and Property Standards Enforcement Division with the goal being to coerce us to not expose the abuses of authority and taxpayer fraud that the evidence supports were committed by Mayor Alex Nuttall, who has never denied our allegations.

We chose to wait, to see if the dog grooming mechanic, the creative rewriter of stories, and the forgetful dog warden would take the rope and run, which is exactly what they did, up a tree to tie it into a noose.

We're Going To Get You, And Your Little Dogs Too!

After we exposed their unethical behaviour, we were fined $130.48. The office of By-Law and Property Standards were reluctant to tell us, but we learned that we could appeal the fine. Eventually, we were advised that the appeal would be heard through a slightly different office of the By-Law and Property Standards Division of Barrie City Hall, which is not in any way neutral or unbiased. We decided to go ahead with the appeal, even if only to show our followers the level of hypocrisy of City Hall. To validate some of our pleadings, we requested information from Kim Banting, regarding how many other Barrie taxpayers were served with citations of the same nature as the one sent to us, either before or after the ice storm that caused so much property damage to so many homes. We were not in the slightest bit surprised when the head of By-Law and Property Standards enforcement simply ignored that request, along with all other calls for professional services, including an investigation into the motivation of Carina Paoletti, who went well and above her pay grade as a dog groomer by demanding repairs be made to our van that she could not even identify as being a problem, but regarding which the repair had to be proven to her satisfaction.

Who exactly do these twenty-something year old, life experience deprived, self-ingratiating, bumptious meter maids in Walmart security guard uniforms, truly believe themselves to be?

Some People Do Know When To Quit

We advised Kim Banting of our intent to file a request for an investigation with Rob Flack, the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, regarding her decision to ignore our request, and we were given a very vague response to our request for public information. Then, we completed our appeal, seven pages of pleadings and multiple pages of evidence, which included everything we have listed here, from the battery charger to the investigations of our Facebook pages, and the highly self-opinionated professionals representing the City of Barrie dived under the nearest table, whined to us that they were cancelling the ticket for reason unrelated to the supposed offence, and practically begged us to just leave them alone.

Barrie Mayor, Alex Nuttall, has not in any way contested our fully documented allegations that he violated public trust, abused taxpayer funded City resources, violated the rights of impoverished citizens, and potentially profited from those actions that also enhanced the standard of living for his family.

Multiple Reports of Intimidation by Mayor Alex Nuttall and the Barrie Chamber of Commerce

It is due to our commitment to our community that in 2021, at the height of the pandemic, our team was nominated and voted to the highest levels for the City of Barrie and Barrie Chamber of Commerce 'Pay It Forward' award for altruism. Although the current Mayor of Barrie, and the leaders of the Barrie Chamber of Commerce, may choose to forget all we have given to those in need, that is not the case with all citizens of our shared community. So far, three local business owners who support our efforts have approached us with stories of being warned off, and in one case reportedly 'threatened', against using our professional media services.

To hell with charities, not-for-profits, and benevolent community groups, Alex Nuttall had a boo-boo from being exposed for being a hateful little man, and he was going to take down the journalist who stood up to him.

According to these highly credible sources, who reached out completely independently of each other and at different times, the 'warning' came either directly from a representative of the office of the mayor or through a conversation with somebody representing the Barrie Chamber of Commerce who claimed to be speaking on behalf of Mayor Alex Nuttall. Currently, two of those ethical and respected business owners have offered to testify should we choose to take this matter to court, where a ruling will be based on evidence. Apparently, our decision to stand up to our current municipal autocracy is loosening the chains of those who could not sWith nMayor Alex Nuttall facing the service of a summons to testify under oath, the prosecutor dropped the charges, advising the court that "there was no chance of conviction.tand under the weight of the threats for doing so.

Miep Gies is remembered in history for saving lives and making a positive contribution, while those who she defied are reviled as monsters.

People only see the Big Blue Box of our studio building, but the structure is huge, going back 80 feet.

The rooms in the back were meeting rooms and offices used to run our business, social enterprise, and not for profit.

We converted those rooms into bedrooms, so we could provide shelter to both singles and couples, including those with service dogs and pets.

In the basement we have a full home gym that our residents can use once properly schooled on the equipment.

We also have a 16 foot long workbench and every tool known to man for residents to use to hone their skills and make repairs.

Our residents have full access to the modern and well-equipped kitchen where they are free to cook within a budget whatever they want.

On some Sundays and special occasions we cook as a team for the entire house, creating community and reinforcing food security.

We often receive a monthly donation of the Good Food Boxe, which we usually use to make a communal stew that lasts for days.

The social safety nets had fallen, compassion was not on the oppressors' agenda, and those who were supposed to protect us all had turned to the fascist tactic of scapegoating a specific socio-political sector of our society. We could either do nothing and let the Mein Kampf minded minions of the mayor continue to abuse the Charter guaranteed rights of these citizens of a democracy, or we could stand up and challenge the abuses. The reality was that, due to the ignorant actions of small-minded men, these fellow human beings had nowhere to go, and not even the meekest of shelter to protect them, and winter was rolling in quickly.

We could either do nothing, and allow those who were evading their own responsibility succeed in scapegoating the victims of a failure within our society, or we could take our cues from a brave woman from history who most people have never heard of. Miep Gies had not changed the world or influenced politics through war or conquest, but had caused a lasting ripple effect within our culture by risking her life to protect young Annelies Marie Frank, a German-boAlex Nuttall has shown that he likes to abuse his authorityrn Jewish girl who she hid in the attic of an office with her family and others, where they were kept safe from the oppressive men who meant them harm.

After the war had ended, and Miep Gies learned how those she had protected had been murdered in concentration camps due to bigotry and political scapegoating, Miep Gies retrieved the diary and pushed to get it published. The influence of The Diary of Anne Frank cannot be denied, and its lessons are taught to every school child in Canada, and most of those living in the United States.

We were already providing unfunded transitional housing to about half a dozen previously unsheltered and homeless people; many of whom were confident they would not likely have survived the winter had we not offered them sanctuary. In total, we have welcomed about a dozen cold and desperate people to live in what were our back offices and studio. Some came in the middle of the night, pleading to sleep in a hallway, in a bathtub, or anywhere on the floor. Some had issues we were not able to accommodate long term, but nobody who came to our door was turned away, and everybody was given a chance. As a result, their health improved, they reduced or quit using substances, they started working as a community rather than struggling as individuals fighting for available food, and they helped each other, which some had not experienced in some time.

The success rate was not 100%, but those who put in the effort stopped surviving, and started living.

Why is it that normal, unfunded, strictly volunteer advocates will feed, clothe, and provide shelter for these fellow human beings who’s only supposed offence is misfortunes of fate or victimization, but our mayor and council will gladly do nothing to help as they die of exposure in the streets? A recent survey conducted in Ontario concluded that 88% of voters and taxpayers want a compassionate solution to the homeless crisis, and only 12% support the plan by Doug Ford for the eviction of encampments and forced treatments for mental health and addictions.

The current administrations in both Barrie City Hall and Queen's Park appear to forget that their jobs depend on pleasing the majority of the electorate, and not just their friends, allies, and supporters.

Our Bradford Street refugees only needed to stay for a couple of weeks before joining a program run by the Elizabeth Fry Society that provided shelter for the winter. That was only possible because they were not struggling to survive, running from one place to another for food, and having to scrounge every blanket and sleeping bag they could to survive in a tent in minus thirty-degree temperatures. They could cook when hungry, sleep without being kicked out of a shelter in the early morning and use a computer to find the services and opportunities they needed.

Why could we, as unfunded volunteers, make this happen, yet Alex Nuttall announced in a press conference last summer that he wants to block all homeless people from the public libraries?

It does not matter for what reason a specific ethnic, religious, or economic group is isolated, shunned, blamed, arrested, detained, incarcerated, and killed. It also does not matter if their deaths are caused by gas chambers or exposure to minus thirty-degree temperatures. The one consistent string throughout history whenever this has happened is that weak men use the prejudices and fears of others to bolster their own political demand for power. Sadly, there is never any shortage of gullible people who will blindly follow those promoting hate, because they are unable to see the trick behind the sleight of hand.

Fortunately, throughout history there have also been people like Miep Gies to show the decent and the honourable the path to ethical action.

Alex Nuttall has shown that he likes to abuse his authority, but he apparently has a tantrum when he is forced to be held accountable. He was the big man when police officers working under his orders arrested a young female psychotherapist for trying to help her registered clients within the encampment at Berczy Park. He was also large and in charge when they arrested a journalist, who had the nerve and audacity to report on how the mayor had ordered police and City of Barrie By-Law enforcers to abuse the Charter of Right and Freedoms, and to violate a Superior Court Order that protected the rights of the encampment residents.

Alex Nuttall also appears to feel like a really big man when he directly or otherwise ordered his By-Law and Property Standards minions to threaten those same journalists with hundred thousand dollar fines, mere hours after an act of nature damaged our home and studio, singling us out because we are showing the 'disrespect' of making Alex Nuttall accountable for his actions, rather then simply regurgitating whatever propaganda he wants to have distributed to the voters of Barrie through 'approved' media. Despite our international status as journalists, we have never made that cut, nor have we ever been invited to a single press conference, nor notified of any city events. We have been known to crash ;-)

The interesting part is what happens when people of integrity push back, like asking how many similar fines were threatened to taxpayers by those same City of Barrie By-Law and Property Standards minions a week after we were served, after a destructive ice storm. The best senior staff could muster was to hide under their desks and wallow in denial. The same can be said about Alex Nuttall, who has been advised that he is to be summonsed as a witness at the trial of our Producer, who committed the heinous crime of reporting on a human-interest story that Nuttall did not want people to know about. All our imperious 'leader' has done is wallow in his own inflated sense of self-importance, while hiding behind security guards at City Hall who are paid for by our taxes.

Just how big do depends get?

Fortunately, we know Alex Nuttall's new home address, as in November 2024, a follower advised us of the address to where he had moved his new wife and merged family.

The mayor's address is not a state secret, and there is no law against publishing it. We just looked it up, and the Toronto Star has multiple times posted the residential address of Premier Doug Ford, as has the Globe and Mail, and other mainstream media. In some cases, Ford's house is the subject of the story, such as when protesters are involved, and no politician of any level is afforded that kind of special consideration. The same is true of the United States. Both are democracies, at least at the time of writing this article ;-), and the political leaders are accountable to the people. Also, when Alex Nuttall ran for Mayor in August of 2022, his home address was published, presumably with his consent, in mainstream media (Click here if the link is deleted), on political group pages (Click here if the link is deleted), and on the City of Barrie website, although that posting has apparently now been removed. We have a screengrab we can add here later if this claim is contested.

Alex Nuttall's new house was reported to be worth $1.1 million dollars, and public posts said it featured four bathrooms and five bedrooms.

So, it came as a legitimate surprise on December 18, 2024, when Facebook advised us that Alex Nuttall had contacted them to censor a story we had published in November 16, 2024, in which we congratulated the mayor and his family for purchasing their new home. There were no threats, nor insults, and we did not publish information that was anything but public. How was our decision, as journalists, to inform the public supposedly a violation of privacy, when Alex Nuttall sends police out to roust people trying to survive in a tent in the woods or on a sidewalk? There is a Superior Court ruling that says that those tents are a home, and that police must treat them as such, and that they do not have the right to enter without consent, or to goosestep over the rights of the residents of that tent, which they do every single day. Why did Emperor Nuttall have the right to deny them their rights under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, and to ignore the order of a Superior Court Judge, whose authority most definitely surpassed that of the office of any mayor and of the Barrie Police Service, yet we were not allowed to exercise our Charter guaranteed right to Freedom of Expression by posting publicly available information about where Alex Nuttall, a well-paid civil servant, lives in Barrie, Ontario? That is simply hypocrisy in the purest form.

Now, we have posted it here, where it has already been found by Google, on a website that we own and control, the content of which Alex Nuttall holds no influence, nor ability to censor.

We noted in our congratulatory post how Alex Nuttall has refused to move forward with transitional housing for the homeless and unsheltered, and that he now has four bedrooms for a small family. It therefore seemed right to us that perhaps those without shelter could apply to rent one of his extra bedrooms. Alex Nuttall also flatly denounced, without explanation, a request by a group of clergies to provide porta-potties to encampments. So, we thought he might be willing to assist those citizens of his city by making one of his available to them.

Afterall, that is exactly what we, as citizens with no funding and limited resources, did when we opened our back offices and studio to provide sanctuary to various homeless people during the lethal winters . . . .
. . . but then, we don't pretend, for political purposes, to be devout Christians, but not follow the scriptures.

Our concern, as the eyes and ears of voters and taxpayers, is that if he will deceive us about his faith, which he claims is of high importance, what else will Alex Nuttall lie to us about?

Alex Nuttall is also the tip of the spear of a morally vicious move by sixteen Ontario Mayors, who want the right to forcibly remove, arrest, and force into 'treatment' or forced labour all members of the homeless community simply for being poor. The new legislation also magically enables the Mayors and Premier to ignore that it is often their policies and incompetence that caused the crisis that those people are being forced to endure.

For some reason, the minority of Mayors carry considerably more weight with Doug Ford, an alleged former drug dealer and college dropout, than do the 428 other Civic Leaders who refused to sign a letter asking the Ontario PCs to abuse the Notwithstanding Clause so they could 'legally' bypass Section 7 of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms and also the January 27, 2023 ruling of Justice Michael J Valente, SUPERIOR COURT OF JUSTICE - COURT FILE NO.: CV-22-717 that can be downloaded here.

This fact-based presentation is the first of several upcoming videos that will look into the deception and potential fraud being committed by those in power to better their positions at the expense of those who are suffering most greatly.

Our focus will be on the selfish actions of the heartless and unsympathetic hypocrites who govern the cities and legislature of Ontario from a false sense of moral superiority, and who have chosen to use force and abuse of power, rather than show compassion in the treatment of those to whom they have caused great harm.

Help the entire community by opening the warming centre for now, and in the spring, find a way to build a tiny house community. That effective remedy has been accomplished by many communities that manage to work without being held back by a very personal agenda, which is hurting all of Barrie’s taxpayers.

Your fascist approach is only going to kill people. Meanwhile, other cities, both inside Ontario and beyond, have shown that compassion works, and when housing is the priority, the rest click into place.

Show some honour by being our mayor, which does not mean engaging in a childish bullying war with people who you know cannot defend against the entire city. Fortunately, they have friends like us, who have, and likely will again, expose abuses of authority like those in which you are engaging.

All I see is a frightened, insecure man who, like any bully, needs to show off for his friends to prove he is not weak or vulnerable. From the emails and messages I have received, I am by no means alone in that assessment.
